The GIC is home to the University Air Photo Collection which consists of approximately 2.5 million air photos. This centre has the largest hard copy collection in British Columbia since the closure of the Provincial Air Photo Warehouse in Victoria. To search and order digital copies of air photos please consult the Integrated Land Management Bureau – Crown Registry and Geographic Base Branch in Victoria.
The library holdings include federal, provincial and private air photos dating from 1922 to 2009 for many areas in B.C. and some areas of the Yukon. The air photos form a historical collection mainly covering urban areas, although most rural areas will have some coverage. To check what is available in the GIC, or to search for what air photos are available away from the urban areas, please consult a GIC staff.
