GIC re-opening!

By CC on June 23, 2020

We are very pleased to announce that the University has approved our emergency reopening plan. The GIC will resume some services starting Tuesday, June 23.

Air Photo Search

Commercial air photo search requests will now be accepted. If you have requested air photos while we were closed please resubmit your order again. As we are anticipating high volumes of air photo requests during the first stages of reopening your order might take longer than the standard two-day turnaround time to process. Rush services cannot be guaranteed for the time being. At this point we will be prioritizing filling small sites requests (e.g. single property lots). To ensure your order will be processed promptly please include all required information with your order: site address, Google Earth .KMZ file, project number and/or purchase order number (if any), delivery address (office/home). More information here.

Air Photo Returns

You can now return photos borrowed from us before the shutdown. Please note that our building is currently closed to visitors. Have your courier call us at 604-822-3048 when they arrive and our staff will meet them at the entrance. We will be on site Mon-Fri 8:30 – 4:30.

Credit Card Payments

If you wish to pay for outstanding invoices by credit card please email us with the following information:

  • Company / Contact Person
  • Phone number
  • Invoice number(s)
  • Office hours

Our staff will contact you by phone as soon as possible to process your payment. ***Do NOT send over any credit card information by e-mail.***

Cheque Payments

Mailed cheques will be accepted once again but might take longer than usual to process.

Other Services

As our library and building is still closed to visitors our study spaces, physical resources and equipment (textbooks, maps, stereoscopes, etc.) will remain inaccessible to the public for the time being. Please contact us by e-mail or phone for inquiries as in-person drop-ins are unavailable.

We recognize the immense challenges and inconvenience posed to our library patrons during the shutdown and we greatly appreciate your patience as our staff do our very best to get our regular services back up and running as soon as possible.
